When Maria (later Baroness Maria) von Trapp wanted to teach the children how to make music, she started with the Basics...right?

So, too, at Meliora Music - whether adult or child, we ALL start 'at the very beginning' when we make music!

But we don't have to go to Austria (darn!) to learn how to sing, or play an instrument, as they did. For the real von Trapp family both sang, played recorder, violin, etc. and  did all of these things very well, too.

However, we can do much the same thing, right here at home, even if we only do one musical instrument. 

Nor do we have to start with 'Do-Re-Mi'...although that IS a part of learning music, never fear.

No, the usual music lessons one takes today, can never be as fun as being on a hillside in the Alps; 

but some of my fondest memories personally were of my own music teachers, and the fun we had as we made music together.  

So... in order for you to get started (whether you are a beginner or advanced pupil) with Meliora Music, you need to do a few things. 

They are:

1) Sign up for lessons.  How?  

      1a.) Email Dr. Moir  [jsmoir@icloud.com ] and he will get you an account that will enable you to begin taking lessons.

2) Set up a payment method (either you, or your parents will do that). When?

       2a) At the same time as you contact Dr. Moir, to sign up for lessons.

3) Arrange for your first lesson. Where?

       3a) All Lessons take place at my studios on the Bluefield College campus. (where else, right?) 

             They are located in STUDIO 108, in the lower level of the Chapel Building, on the Bluefield campus, Bluefield, VA.

Last, but not least...

4) Most importantly - the 'P' word - Practice!

(Yup, you know that was in there someplace, didn't you?)  Well, it can't be helped. You spent a whole YEAR learning how to walk, another six to twelve months perfecting your speech before you were two years old; and, if you have taken dance, gymnastics, baseball, basketball, or any other sport, you know it takes many repetitions (meaning, YEARS) to get 'good.'

Music is no different! But once you do know the Basics, well then...
